Would Somebody Want This Without Your Logo?
Here is one of the questions we ask when evaluating a corporate gift: would somebody actually want this if your logo were not on it?
It sounds obvious. But a surprising amount of corporate gifting starts with the logo. Then somebody figures out what object to put underneath it. A logo on a mediocre item is not a gift; it is merchandise with extra steps.
We think it should work the other way around.
Start with something people will genuinely enjoy. Something they will eat, use, share, bring home, or talk about. Then figure out how your brand becomes part of that experience.
What that looks like in practice
Sometimes that means personalization: a wrapper printed with artwork your client will recognize, or a message tucked inside the box that references the project you finished together.
Sometimes it is beautiful packaging. Sometimes subtle branding works better than putting your logo everywhere. A small, well-made chocolate with a clean custom wrapper outperforms a large box stamped with a logo on every surface. One says “thoughtful.” The other says “marketing budget.”
The recipient should feel like they received a gift. Not merchandise. That distinction matters, because it is the difference between a box that gets photographed and shared, and one that gets opened, politely acknowledged, and forgotten by Friday.
A quick test before you order
Picture the item with no branding at all. Would you give it to a friend? Would you keep it on your desk? If the honest answer is no, the logo is not going to save it.
If you want a second set of eyes on a branded gift idea, send it our way. We will tell you honestly whether it passes the test.
